About

Aidan Camat

My name is Aidan Camat and I’m a second year student at Dawson College in the Arts, Literature and Communications program. Being a student in the Studio Arts profile is a rewarding and challenging experience that allows for creative expression and personal growth. This learning process has provided me with a platform for discovery and exploration, and will hopefully lead to a fulfilling career in the arts. I enjoy creating mixed media art because it offers a wide range of creative possibilities to experiment with different textures, colors, and materials, resulting in unique and visually interesting pieces. By combining various mediums, such as paint, ink, graphite and materials, it allows me to create multidimensional works that convey complex ideas and emotions. I also enjoy film photography (which is usually incorporated with my mixed media pieces). Unlike digital photography, which provides instant results and endless opportunities for editing and manipulation, film photography requires careful planning, attention to detail, and patience. Shooting with film forces photographers to slow down and think critically about each shot, from composition and lighting to exposure and film type. This deliberate approach can result in more intentional and meaningful images that convey a sense of authenticity and nostalgia; a theme that stems my inspiration for art in general.
